Littler Mendelson has unveiled a new app that its management-side clients can use to find answers to their employment questions, either through a database of previous attorney responses or a live on-call attorney.
Clients submit questions through the Littler onDemand app and immediately receive prior attorney responses when the question previously has been submitted to the platform by the client’s organization, according to a press release Thursday.
Questions that haven’t been addressed before are routed to a Littler onDemand counsel who will respond directly or consult with Littler attorneys on more complex questions. Clients also can access a dashboard that shows other questions being posed, giving them a broader look at issues in their companies, according to the American Lawyer.
Littler shareholder Scott Forman is the app creator.
A number of clients signed up for the app when it was in beta form last year. Fees for attorneys can be based on traditional hourly rates or any other arrangement that is worked out between the law firm and client.
The on-demand lawyers will be available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. across the country, Bloomberg Big Law Business reports.
Currently, two lawyers are working as Littler onDemand counsel, but more will be hired. The lawyers will work full time from home and will be compensated “comparable to an in-house position,” Forman told Bloomberg.
“This delivers what most people mistakenly believe the in-house position offers: a set schedule, working on interesting legal issues for important clients,” Forman told the American Lawyer.
